I am a whitewater kayaker living in San Francisco. I learned to kayak 13 years ago in the Washington DC/Great Falls area with Tom McEwan. I spent three years running steep creeks in Oregon and Washington while living in Portland. My favorite runs were the White Salmon, Little White Salmon, Icicle Creek & Tumwater, and Robe Canyon. I have lived in California for two years and I spent much of this summer running Cherry Creek's regularly scheduled releases since almost everything in California was bone dry this summer. This summer I had my first self-supported overnighter on Generation/Giant gap of the North Fork of the American. My profile photo is taken from a section in the "dream gap" portion of Generation Gap.
Although my background is in river running and creeking, I have recently become beholden to the sport of surf kayaking. Nowadays I primarily surf the Northern California coast from Ocean Beach to Santa Cruz (and points south).
