About Me:: Owner of West Coast Expeditions -- www.westcoastexpeditions.com -- operating exclusively in spectacular Kyuquot Sound, northwest coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Having guided and worked there since 1995, this has become a second home!

Paddling, guiding & instructing on Vancouver Island, BC, for the better part of 20 years. Examiner with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC. Live in Courtenay, BC.

Married to a guide, Caroline Fisher. And looking forward to getting on the water this summer with our new son, Morgan (born Oct. 2007)...who is "from the sea".

Lead instructor with North Island College's Coastal Adventure Tourism Certificate Program during the winter.

Favourite trip: Port Hardy to Tofino via Cape Scott, the Brooks Peninsula, Tatchu Pt, and Estevan Pt. with the late Mike Simpson, Caroline Fisher, and Tina Walker, summer 2004 -- seems like yesterday!

Other faves:
--same day circumnavigation of Quadra Island (approx. 50 nm) riding the flow with Liam Edwards and Greg Shea, approx. 13 h total with playtime (Lower Rapids), breaks, and visits with friends Brody and Christine along the way; Canada Day, 2003
--Le Bloc to Meat Cove, West coast Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, June 2005 with Caroline Fisher -- spectacular coastline! (Thanks for the plastic double from Angelo/North River Kayaks -- perfect for this coast)
--Brooks Trip guiding with Mike Simpson and Caroline Fisher, for West Coast Expeditions, August 2006, just weeks before Mike collapsed with a massive brain tumour -- this trip was a dream come true for Mike, where all of the pieces came together...including some great surf landings, and a swim off Clerke Pt., the tip of the Brooks Peninsula
--multiple short trips with Theo Dombrowski over the last 20 years: Gulf Islands, Nuuchatlitz, Desolation Sound, Great Central Lake/Della Falls, Lasqueti/Jedediah Islands, and MOMAR races in Ucluelet.

What boats do you paddle?: Extreme Interface Quantum (19'10" X 21"), Necky Rip & Gliss, ...and most anything that floats and looks like fun...and is comfortable to sit in...

Sea kayaking. I was talking to my wife the other day, and told her next time we venture west to the coast we would have to try sea kayaking. Will have to get a proper roof rack first.
