I have never done it. So can't really comment. I think it's a reasonably short distance for a two day paddle. I think you should come. You don't hold anyone down, that's my opinion. Always willing to help you out however. We paddle as a team... Portage if required. Scout when necessary. If you are in, then so am I. :)
I'm taking first choice on the rooms... :) But you can have one with en suite, no worries.
Sabie was like Blyde, sort of a trip with races on 3 different rapids. Some good carnage. A couple of people went. Was nice. Philip won, with me second and Scott Reinders third. It was lekker. Sweet prizes too! Not as big as Thrombi and maybe not as organised as Blyde was but still very nice. Cheri loved it! And she only watched the first race, standing in the rain. So I guess it must have been good.
Dave Joyce, Adrian Vroom, Brendan Bosmand, Philip Claassens, Deon (from WWT), some of the Hoedspruit people (who kept to themselves and didn't socialise with anyone else, not sure why) and a bunch of other people.
Couple of beginners too. It was sweet.
I'm just waiting for the X-Fest dates to be confirmed and then I'll book that place. I hope it's not taken... And not going to invite any Tom, Dick and Harry either. So it will be shanana!
Dave got injured though on Sunday. I didn't paddle and spent the day with Cheri but he got 7 stitches in his jaw. I could see his jaw bone. Not nice. Shame, he didn't look good at all and Philip drove his car back. His eyes weren't quite there...
Ern, I hope your wedding anniversary was sweet this weekend! Sure it was. Not sure if this is the right thing to say, but well done. Sabie X-Fest was wicked. Really fun. I just had and still do have an upset stomach.
I am probably going to book the Giant Kingfisher Lodge at the Uzimkulu River Lodge for the Thrombi X-Fest. I don't think I'm going to compete and will do my own thing. Bringing Cheri with too. Then about 10 of us can stay at the lodge. You in? I'm giving you first choice so far... :)
