I flewin from Edmonton and you could still see that the main lake is a solid chunk of ice. The Noertharm is starting toopen up and I saw a boat coming in from maybe trout rock area. Boats are easy to spot from the plane. The kids next door to be were swimming today but they are crazy at the best of times.
Yellowknife was +26C early this afternoon and it was great. Today was Summer Solstice and National Aboriginal day so Yellowknife was a happening place. I spent the afternoon at the Harleys Hardrock Saloon Show and Shine before heading out on the lake for a great two hour paddle. Didn't really go anywhere sort of chased wind gust around trying to catch enough breeze for a sail.
However a day spent od the water doing nothing at all is a day well spent Happy Solstice folks Cheers, Greg

Sociable was a big success and everyone had fun dispite the confused and sometimes very wet weather.

Things are late this year. Last year I left June 9th to head to thje East Arm, and across the tundra.PS Greg, I have already paddled from South End to Cumberland House this year but could not do the Wollaston Lake and Reindeer Lake sections of uor intended trip due to ice on the lakes. Oh well, it got me to this year.
Andy
